Mid-Term Evaluation (MTE) Report

The Machakos Protocol, which is the starting point and opening protocol of the CPA, requires the AEC to conduct an evaluation of the unity arrangements established under the CPA by the middle of the interim period, which corresponds to 9 July 2008. Pursuant to the provisions of the CPA and in advance of the deadline set therein, the AEC chairman formally submitted the Mid Term Evaluation report to the Presidency on 8 July 2008. At the same time copies were sent to the heads of international organizations and foreign ministers of countries represented in the Commission.

The Mid Term Evaluation is intended to complement the Factual Report on the Status of CPA Implementation completed by the AEC in October 2007.

Pursuant to the Rules of Procedure of the AEC, the only authoritative version of the report is that in English. However, an unofficial Arabic translation is offered to assist those wishing to read it in Arabic.
